CAPE TOWN – Cape Town crime fighters are looking down on criminals.
Authorities will unveil the city’s new weapon to help fight crime and gang violence and to monitor wildfires.
The ISR — commonly referred to as Eye in the Sky — will soon be patrolling the Mother City.
It’s a fixed-wing aircraft with state-of-the-art cameras to provide aerial support during enforcement operations.
The aircraft can fly higher than a drone and is fitted with infrared cameras.
It will be able to pick up body heat, recently fired firearms, and even the wheels of a speeding vehicle.
This is the latest addition to crime-fighting technology in the city.
Drones, body cams, gunshot detection and license-plate recognition cameras have already been rolled out.
